Kaii Tu is a product and environments designer whose work blending analytical thinking and craft reaches across boundaries: from furniture and consumer products in market today, to interactive experiences and systems of tomorrow.
At IDEO, he has specialized in the design of complex products and systems, including urban living, mobility, and school experiences, in China, across Asia, and globally. He led the creation of the foresight and futuring practice at IDEO Shanghai, through which he has helped organizations as diverse as energy equipment manufacturer to city governments identify future human shifts, and tangibly design preferred futures.
Prior to joining IDEO, Kaii designed products and environments for Hayon Studio in Spain, the renowned luxury and lifestyle design consultancy, leading relationships for a global roster of clients in Europe and Asia including MINI/BMW, Fritz Hansen, &Tradition, Wittmann, and Habitat.
This experience in crafting emotionally resonant products and environments is united with the analytical rigor honed by classic CPG brand management. He joined Procter & Gamble early in his career, rising to be one of the youngest Brand Managers (since retitled Brand Directors) in the company. At P&G, he led business strategy, product development, franchise innovation strategy, brand architecture, and consumer segmentation in the fabric, home, and baby care segments. A recognized innovation leader, he delivered over $100 million in new products and experiences.
Kaii graduated summa cum laude from Harvard University with a degree in Visual and Environmental Studies. He continued his design studies at Design Academy Eindhoven in the Netherlands (Propedeuse) and California College of the Arts, from where he graduated with High Distinction.
Kaii speaks English, Spanish, and Chinese.
